To initiate and carry out socio-economic programmes that will empower women and children on a sustainable basis leading to poverty reduction and economic empowerment.

In partnership with others, we exist to provide sustainable, effective and efficient social development interventions and reliefs to the most vulnerable in the Ga West municipality and beyond.

GOAL

To promote programmes that conscientise and builds the capacities of beneficiaries on health, education, economic and human rights issues by the year 2020 in the Ga West district and beyond.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

1. To promote socio economic interventions that empower women against the struggle for economic emancipation in 60 communities by September 2020

2. To promote issues related to the education of children with particular emphasis on the girl child in the district.

3. To educate women on their rights and responsibilities in the decision making process of their homes and communities at large

4. To embark on the education of children and the youth aged between 4 and 9 years and to provide care and support to HIV/AIDs victims and children orphaned by the pandemic

5. To embark on the promotion of community activities that will help to reduce the level of malaria, TB and other diseases in the communities in and around district.

6. To promote environmental issues in the form of tree planting, clean surroundings, hygienic and healthy living practices.

Target Audience

Our Range of Activities

1. HIV and AIDs Education: Educating school children, men and women and the general populace on the impact of the disease on the socio-economic and health status of infected and affected people and families. Formation of abstinence and virgin clubs in many of our basic schools in and around the municipality.

2. Malaria and other health related issues: we have put in place some interventions in the areas of educating the populace on malaria, buruli ulcer and other environmental and hygienic issues to reduce the occurrence of these diseases which are the 2 top diseases in the area. Additionally, we anticipate to distribute mosquito nets to children under 5 and pregnant women to encourage the culture of sleeping under nets to reduce malaria occurrences.

3. Economic Empowerment for Livelihood: the provision of skills training in the manufacture and marketing of locally made soap, detergent, beads, powder, etc. Incomes earned from these products have been used to support various family expenses such as paying school fees, registering for the NHIS, buying food and provisions, etc.

4. Capacity Building and Training: we hold training workshops on small business management, record keeping, marital issues, the laws of Ghana that affect women and children. Over 30 of such workshops and seminars have been held at various locations of the project catchment area in the past 5 years.

5. Operating Cooperatives:

EXPECTED OUTCOMES/IMPACT. By the end of the project period, it is expected that:

• 350 women trained in our skill training program to equip them for development.

• Packages such as small loans, materials and equipment received by beneficiaries within the project period.

• Incomes of families will improve

• Mothers will be able to contribute to the family budget on a more regular and sustainable basis

• 700 children and 300 pregnant women receive 1000 mosquito be nets as part of the efforts to control malaria.

1. 10,000 pupils and students counseled

2. 400 apprentices sensitized and encourage to protect themselves against the pandemic

3. Virgins fellowships increased from 20 to 50 by the end of the project

4. 80% of young people arriving in the district without assurance of accommodation and employment counseled and taught some vocation they can start life with and hire a place to live in.

4. Research/Information Gathering and Analysis: gathering and analyzing data on business improvement and strategy.

5. Project and Business Proposal Writing/Fund Raising: writing project proposals, editing of funding proposals, providing some guidelines to writing successful proposals, asking the questions that the donor would possibly ask, writing business plans in their various forms and shapes to meet specification, etc. Report writing: Training participants on how to write good reports.

6. Preparation of Manuals in Relevant Subject matters: writing Administrative Procedures Manual, HR Procedures Manual, Accounting Procedures Manual, etc
